NILDS Internship Instrumemtal to Lawmaking in Nigeria. -Prof. Sulaiman

 

National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, intership programme focused on legislative drafting has been described as instrumental to lawmaking in Nigeria.

Prof. Abubakar O.Sulaiman, Director General, NILDS, said this on Tuesday in Abuja at the closing ceremony of the third batch of the Legislative Drafting Internship Programme and Induction of the Fourth Batch of Interns of the institute.

While stating that the initiative is instrumental in empowering the next generation of legislative drafters and shaping the future of lawmaking in Nigeria. He said that the internship programme was initiated to address the national need for skilled legislative drafters.

The added that the programme had culminated into the empowerment of the talented individuals and a continuing talent hunt with the commencement of the fourth batch.

Speaking further, he said that some of the objectives  included equipping interns with the fundamental principles, practices of legislative drafting, and building strong skills in legal research and analysis essential for crafting effective legislation.

The program was initiated with the vision of addressing the national need for skilled legislative drafters.

The initiative which is a brain child of the Director General is aimed at equipping interns with the necessary expertise and skills in legislative drafting, ultimately bolstering their capacity in this field and enabling them to make meaningful contributions to the formulation of laws and legislative instruments for Nigeria’s legislature.
